                                             WATER QUALITY REPORT
 

WATER AND SEWER

Water and sewer is provided by the city. Please notify city hall for water hookup and/or shut off. Water and sewer is billed monthly, from the 15th to the 15th and always a month behind. Bills are sent out in postcard form on the first of the month due on the 15th. If the 15th falls on a weekend or holiday the bill is due no later than the following business day by 8:30 AM. (The drop slot at city hall is provided for that purpose). A 10% penalty will be applied to all bills that are late. After the 15th, payment is due by the 25th of the month (on a weekend or holiday, than the next business day) by noon or water will be shut off and a $20.00 re-connect fee will be applied. Rates are as follows:

For a minimal fee of $10.00 the city will shut water off and turn it back on again for anyone wishing to leave town for the winter and wanting their water shut off during the time they are gone. You are not billed for services during that time. Contact the city clerk if this is a service you would like have.

 If you know you will be doing excessive watering during the months of April through October, the City Of Le Grand will provide summer credit meters at a deposit fee of $25.00. This enables you to have the sewer charges reimbursed to you on your next water bill following when you turn the meter back in. The deposit fee will be reimbursed on the next water bill providing the meter is returned in good working condition.  Contact the city hall (479-2464) for more information on this service.

Effective 2-1-07 any water/sewer bill under $5.00 will not be Mailed out to the resident.  However it will be sent out if requested by resident.

Property Owner’s Responsibilities:

According to Le Grand City Ordinance 90.12. Each customer shall install, connect and maintain at said customer’s expense the service from the main, including the necessary tap, fittings and curb stop to said customer’s premises, including an interior stop at the end of the house side of the service. The minimum earth cover of the customer’s service shall be five (5) feet. The City shall determine the size of service to be installed. The customer shall indemnify the City from any loss or damage that may directly or indirectly be occasioned by the installation, connection, maintenance or deterioration of said water service pipe.

According to Le Grand City Ordinance 96.09. All costs and expenses incident to the installation, connection and maintenance of the building sewer shall be borne by the owner. The owner shall indemnify the City from any loss or damage that may directly or indirectly be occasioned by the installation, connection, maintenance or deterioration of the building sewer.

Building Permits

Building Permits-Permits are required for building or remodeling when you increase the size of the existing building, this includes decks and fences.  There is a $10 charge for a residential permit or  $20.00 for a commercial building permit. Applications for permits may be obtained at City Hall during working hours or by clicking and printing from the link provided below. All applications and blue prints must be returned to the City Hall during normal working hours to be processed and submitted to the proper council members for approval.

Tax Abatement-Le Grand’s tax abatement allows property owners to receive an abatement for a period of five years on any qualified improvement that increases the actual assessed value of the real estate by at least 10%. Property owners will receive a 100% exemption from taxation on the actual value added by the improvements.

MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION

Snow Removal-City ordinance requires the clearing of snow and ice from sidewalks abutting your property 24 hours after cessation of a snowfall.

Weeds or other Vegetation-You are required by city ordinance to keep all weeds and other vegetation mowed or under control.

 Dogs and Cats-Pets are not allowed to “run at large” in the corporate city limits.
